To Prep Or Not To Prep?

Reading Time 3 Minutes

Over 10 years ago I became a widow with two young children aged six and three years old.

In a blink of an eye my life was tossed left, right and centre as if I lived in a great big washing machine. To say my mind was foggy, my heart was broken and struggling to stay afloat is an understatement. I was living out of desperation. To make things worse, I lost my job and lost any hope that I had left in this world.

During that time I met a kind man who said he can help me get a job. Together we wrote my resume and printed 10 copies so that I can submit it to my local pharmacies.

He would pretend to interview me and ask me all types of employment questions. "Your answer is too general" he'd say, "give them examples of how you have dealt with your current problems, let them see your true character". I kid you not, we went through over twenty different scenario's.

Then the unexpected happened, I walked into a pharmacy and they interviewed me on the spot. The next day I received a phone call "Congratulations, you got the job" said the manager.

Despite getting the job, I cried so much my liver hurt.

Have you ever been in a situation you were so desperate and then the flood gates of mercy opened?

That's how I felt. Gratitude flooded my soul knowing that I've been given a second chance to provide for my children.

The message I want to get across is, if it wasn't for the thorough preparation, I would not have got the job and been able to support my children.

Today, this man is my husband, and together we prepare for everything life throws at us.

Preparation is the key to success.

"It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark"

I hear some people say we don't need to prepare furniture before painting it.

I respectfully disagree.

Preparing your furniture is vital to giving it a beautiful result.

Prep for some pieces might be as easy as giving it a good clean, simple but it's still prep.

Types of Furniture Prepping:

  1. Clean
  2. Fill and repair damages
  3. Sand
  4. Prime

Whether it be preparing in life or prepping a piece of furniture. Your end result is only as good as your initial canvas!!!
